Let us not forget that this happened
This is probably one of the most understated and brilliant Rizzles moments of season two, if not all the episodes combined.
Here’s rough and tumble Rizzoli, who doesn’t do hugs or lovey-dovey crap, cradling Maura against her so firmly, and with such ease. More than that though, this line right here, as short and easy to miss as it is -hell, I missed it the first time I watched the episode- says a lot about their relationship. It just comes so naturally to Jane that it’s ridiculous; no stammering, no forced emphasis to make a point, just a low murmuring that anybody could direct at their significant other.
Noteworthy, too, is Maura’s subtle glance back; she’s heard what Jane said, no doubt. Perhaps it’s just my imagination, but in that glance, I can see the tiniest of nicks in the usually perfect sheet of glass that is Maura Isles’ composure. Her natural curiosity can’t help but prick an ear when such an intimate term of endearment slips casually and easily from her best friend’s mouth, and who can blame her?
Just asdkjfhlasdkfj. I know I’m rambling, but I have so many feels about this pairing, and this one tiny moment is one of my absolute favourites, despite its seeming insignificance.
